Becky Olstad and Colleen Mullins – Mano A Mano

WHAT: Mano A Mano
WHERE: Runner Runner Gallery, 219 North 2nd Street, Suite 200, Mpls, MN
WHEN: Feb 16, 2012, 6PM – 9PM

Appetizers and drinks will be provided, and free off-street parking is available.

THE RUNNER RUNNER GALLERY will exhibit the works of two talented Minnesota photographers: Becky Olstad and Colleen Mullins. Olstad studiously captures boxers in her “The Sweet Science” portfolio while Mullins unobtrusively observes holiday travelers in her “Pictures of the Floating World”.

At first glance, Olstad and Mullins’ subject matter could not appear to be more different. However, through close observation, both have learned the rules and rituals of their respective subjects’ games. And through the work of these fine photographers, we are invited into these different worlds without having to pay the price of admission.

Becky Olstad is a fiscal year 2011 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is funded, in part, by the arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the Legacy Amendment vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.

THE GALLERY
will also be featuring Partnership Resources, a nonprofit day program serving adults with developmental disabilities in Minneapolis and St. Louis Park. PRI received an Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (MRAC) grant to work with 20 clients  focusing on Impressionism. Two PRI staff members have been collaborating with the artists to show them a variety of ways to portray light, movement, mixing, and how to apply texture into their painting. For more information, visit Partnership Resources at http://www.partnershipresources.org/.

Thomas Rose – The Chinese Pictures

WHAT: The Chinese Pictures Exhibit
WHERE: Runner Runner Gallery, 219 North 2nd Street, Suite 200, Mpls, MN
WHEN: Dec 1, 2011, 6PM – 9PM

Appetizers and drinks will be provided, and free off-street parking is available.

THE RUNNER RUNNER GALLERY will exhibit a series of fabrications created by local artist, Tom Rose. The fabrications feature photographs taken of the Pace Gallery (under construction in Beijing’s art district 798).

Tom began capturing the reconstruction of Beijing in 2006, and he continued to photograph its ever changing urban landscape when he visited again in 2009. As he discovered during his time there, Beijing is composed of a series of layers–layers in time, as well as space. Each layer is part of a complex narrative which details the evolution of modern China.

THE GALLERY will also be featuring table sculptures by local artist, Alex Walton.

Stuart Klipper – Open Waters

Stuart Klipper’s breathtaking photography from the Arctic and Antarctic will be on display, as well as Tom Wik’s square-format photographs of house facades. For any Lord of the Rings fans out there, there will also be a special, hand-crafted piece that’s going to amaze you.

WHAT: Open Waters, Photography by Stuart Klipper
WHERE: Runner Runner Gallery, 219 North 2nd Street, Suite 200, Mpls, MN
WHEN: Sept 29, 2011, 6PM – 9PM

As always, appetizers and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you there!
